AIIMS Patna Receives Accolades for Innovation and Patient-Centric Approaches

Patna – On February 13th, 2024, Union Health Secretary Apurva Chandra, accompanied by Joint Secretary Dr. Ankita Mishra Bundela and Additional Secretary Ms. Deepti Gaur Mukerjee, conducted a comprehensive review of the report of AIIMS Patna during their visit to the institution. Dr. G.K. Pal, the Executive Director of AIIMS Patna, presented a detailed overview of the institute’s operations during the review meeting.

Dr. G.K. Pal provided an in-depth analysis of AIIMS Patna’s achievements and highlighted its best practices, including the effective utilization of the Hospital Revolving Fund (HRF), efficient blood sample collection and reporting systems, affordable cochlear implant surgeries, the ABHA-Health record linkage under ABDM, ongoing projects, extramural projects, research endeavors, patient load management, surgical activities, and forthcoming facilities.

The Secretary, Joint Secretary, and Additional Secretary commended AIIMS Patna for its commendable initiatives, particularly recognizing the success of the HRF, blood sample collection and reporting mechanisms, the Department of Radiation Oncology, cochlear implant surgeries, and the ABHA-Health record linkage initiative. They praised the institution’s management and its commitment to delivering quality care despite facing significant patient volumes.

Dr. G.K. Pal, expressing gratitude on behalf of the institute, thanked the Health Secretary and Joint Secretary for their visit and insightful contributions aimed at enhancing the institution’s capabilities.

During the visit, it was observed that the hospital experiences high levels of congestion, primarily due to the absence of a Day-Night Shelter. It was emphasized that the establishment of a Yatri Niwas, facilitated by both the State Government and the MPLAD fund of RMP Susheel Kumar Modi, should be expedited to alleviate this issue.
