Patna: A three-week intensive training programme for District Art and Culture Officers, organised by Bihar’s Department of Art, Culture and Youth, came to a close at the Dashrath Manjhi Shram Niyojan Study Institute in Patna on Friday. The ceremony marked a key milestone in enhancing cultural administration across the state.
The event began with a traditional lamp lighting, jointly inaugurated by N. Vijayalakshmi, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of the Animal and Fisheries Resources Department, and Pranav Kumar Rai, Secretary of the Department of Art, Culture and Youth, alongside senior officials.
ACS N. Vijayalakshmi congratulated the officers on completing the programme, highlighting the significance of nurturing cultural talents from remote areas to gain recognition on national and international stages. She stressed the importance of harmonising folk traditions with classical arts, urging the officers to safeguard and pass on Bihar’s rich cultural heritage to future generations.
Secretary Pranav Rai spoke of the knowledge gained during the training and expressed confidence that it would aid effective implementation of departmental schemes at the district level.
During the ceremony, officers received certificates and mementos. The trainees showcased their learning through group presentations. Notable talks included Sukanya of Munger on “Connecting youth through arts,” Kirti Alok of Patna on “Role of museum in changing environment,” Chandan of Darbhanga on “Cultural and economic development through films,” Richa Verma on “Folk music of Bihar: from preservation to innovation,” and Shyam on “One art in every home.”
Ruby, Director (Culture), encouraged the officers, expressing optimism that the newly trained officials would confidently and smoothly manage departmental work in their respective districts.
The programme was attended by several dignitaries including Internal Financial Advisor Rana Sujit Kumar Tuntun, Special Officer Kahkashan, Film Consultant Arvind Ranjan Das, and Public Relations Officer Nupur Jha, among others.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Anil Kumar Singh, bringing the event to a close.
