Patna: Air India Express has named Nipun Aggarwal as its new chairman following the departure of Campbell Wilson from the role, in a leadership shift aimed at strengthening integration across the Tata Group’s airline operations.

Aggarwal, currently the Chief Commercial Officer of Air India and already a board member of Air India Express, will now take on the additional responsibilities of chairing the budget carrier. The move comes as part of broader efforts to streamline leadership and boost operational efficiency across the group’s aviation portfolio.

Wilson, who remains the Managing Director and CEO of Air India, will also step down from the board of Air India Express. His position will be filled by Captain Basil Kwauk, the airline’s Chief Operating Officer, who is expected to play a key role in aligning the operations of the full-service and low-cost arms of the airline.

In a note to staff, Wilson affirmed his continued support: “I will obviously continue to be keenly interested in AI Express’ progress and success, fully support Nipun and Basil in their new roles, and continue to be responsible for the overall performance of the Air India Group.”
