Anand Mohan Receives Bihar Chief Minister's Backing in a Historic Gathering

Patna: Six months after his release from prison, where he had served a life sentence for the 1994 murder of former bureaucrat G. Krishnaiah, the once-infamous ‘Bahubali-turned-politician’ Anand Mohan has found unwavering support from Bihar Chief Minister (CM) Nitish Kumar. In a public address on Friday in Mohan’s native village in Saharsa, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar extended his endorsement, stating, “Aapko jo man kare kijiye. Koi dikkat nahin hai (Do whatever you want. There is no problem).”

The occasion for this public display of solidarity was the unveiling of statues commemorating Mohan’s grandfather, the late Ram Bahadur Singh, and his uncle, the late Paramanand Singh Brahmachari, both freedom fighters.

In his address, CM Nitish emphasized the significance of history and familial ties, saying, “Politics has its place; I have family relations with Anand Mohan ji. We have been coming to their house before and have been seeking blessings from their parents. Today, on the occasion of the statue unveiling program, I am delighted to be here.”

He added: “Some may wish to alter the country’s history, but we all must remain vigilant. We must continue passing down our history to the new generation, inspiring them with the deeds and contributions of great individuals. We will continue to serve you and work towards resolving your problems. Let us not forget our country’s history and, together, let us advance the nation.”

The Chief Minister also highlighted the familial connections, saying, “Late Ram Bahadur Singh was the grandfather of former MP Anand Mohan ji, and Late Padmanand Singh Brahmachari ji was his uncle. Former MP Shri Anand Mohan ji and his wife, former MP Lovely Anand ji, extended an invitation for this event. I have longstanding familial ties with these individuals.”

The event featured speeches by JD (U) national president Rajeev Ranjan, also known as Lalan Singh, as well as Anand Mohan, Lovely Anand, MLA Chetan Anand, and Anshuman Anand, among other notable figures.
