Patna: Tensions flared on the morning of June 25 in Phulwarisharif, Patna, when several students at Adarsh High School Palanga were barred from entering the examination centre for not wearing the mandated school uniform. The incident occurred during the quarterly examination for Class 12 students, leading to a heated protest at the school gates.
According to witnesses, students who had arrived out of uniform were stopped by school staff and denied access to the exam hall. The refusal sparked outrage among the affected students, many of whom began shouting slogans and demanding to be allowed to take their exams.
“There isn’t even a proper facility to sit inside the school, and yet they are enforcing dress codes during exams,” one student said, expressing frustration over the strict policy enforcement. As the situation escalated, tensions mounted between the students and school authorities, prompting local police to arrive at the scene to maintain order.
No injuries were reported, and authorities said the protest was brought under control within a short time. However, students and parents have criticised the administration’s handling of the matter, calling the punishment disproportionate.
The school has yet to issue an official statement, and it remains unclear whether the affected students will be given another opportunity to appear for the examination.
