BA Student Preparing for Railway Recruitment Dies by Suicide in Patna Hostel

Patna: A 21-year-old student was found dead in his hostel room in the Naya Tola area under Kadamkuan police station in Patna on Sunday evening. The deceased, identified as Rishabh Raj, hailed from Supaul district and was a second-year BA student preparing for railway recruitment examinations.

According to police, Rishabh was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan in his room. He had reportedly returned to Patna from his hometown earlier that morning. His father, Sanjeev Kumar Paswan, is a resident of Chhatapur Katihi village in Supaul.

Rajiv Kumar, the officer in charge of Kadamkuan police station, dismissed rumours circulating on social media that Rishabh was a candidate for the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exams. “The deceased student had no connection to the BPSC. He was preparing for Railway NTPC recruitment,” Kumar clarified.

The police have sent Rishabh’s body for post-mortem and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. “We are examining all aspects of the case, and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings,” Kumar added.

This incident has sparked concern among the student community in Patna, which hosts a large number of aspirants preparing for competitive exams.
