Bangles in Hand, Congress Marches in Patna After Muzaffarpur Rape Victim Dies at PMCH

A 10-year-old Dalit girl from Muzaffarpur, who was raped and seriously injured, died outside Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) after waiting for hours without treatment. In response, Congress workers, including many women carrying bangles, held a protest march in Patna, accusing the Bihar government of negligence and demanding the resignations of top officials.

Patna: The Congress party held a strong protest in Patna after a 10-year-old Dalit girl, who was raped and attacked with a knife in Muzaffarpur, died outside Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH). The girl had been brought to the hospital for treatment but was not given a bed. She remained in an ambulance for hours and later died. Congress leaders have blamed the Bihar government and its health department for the tragedy.

At the protest near Income Tax Golambar, angry Congress workers—many of them women—carried bangles and shouted slogans. They burned effigies of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Health Minister Mangal Pandey, demanding their resignations. The women said the government had failed to protect the child and give her proper medical care.

Bihar Congress president Rajesh Ram said the government tried to hide the case for two days because Prime Minister Narendra Modi was visiting the state. “This is not only a rape case. It is murder. The government let her die,” he said. He also said he rushed to PMCH to help the girl but couldn’t get any support from the hospital staff or the health minister.

Congress spokesperson Rajesh Rathore said party workers struggled for five hours to get the girl admitted to the maternity ward. “She died because of government carelessness,” he said. The party has demanded justice for the girl and promised more protests if action is not taken.
