Patna: Five High Courts in the country have got new Chief Justices after the central government approved their appointments. Justice Vipul M Pancholi will now be the 45th Chief Justice of Patna High Court. He was earlier a judge in Gujarat High Court and became a judge in Patna High Court on 24 July 2023. He was the most senior judge in Patna High Court after the Chief Justice.
Along with this, Justice Ashutosh Kumar, who was the acting Chief Justice of Patna High Court, has been made the Chief Justice of Guwahati High Court. Justice Trilok Singh Chauhan, who was a judge in Himachal Pradesh High Court, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court. The Union Law Ministry issued a notification for these appointments.
Justice Sudhir Singh, who was transferred from Patna High Court to Punjab and Haryana High Court earlier, has now been transferred back to Patna High Court. These changes are expected to speed up important cases and bring stronger leadership in the courts.
The five High Courts that got new Chief Justices are Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Guwahati and Patna. Legal experts say these appointments will help in the smooth working of courts and quick disposal of cases in these states.
