BAU Sabour Launches "BATI Hub" to Empower Bihar's Tribal Communities

Sabour: Bihar Agricultural University (BAU), Sabour, under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Dr. D. R. Singh, has launched the “Bihar Agricultural Technology and Innovation (BATI) Hub” to promote inclusive development in the tribal areas of Bihar. The initiative focuses on the Santhal and Khaira tribal communities and is driven by the principle of “Leave no one behind.”

The BATI Hub is being implemented through the project “Establishment and validation of Bihar Agricultural Technology and Innovation ‘BATI’ Hub for sustainable livelihood and nutritional security of tribal community in Bihar,” with Dr. Preeti Priyadarshini serving as the project investigator.

The hub aims to improve the lives of tribal communities by promoting sustainable livelihoods and socio-economic empowerment. Its focus areas include nutrition awareness, productivity enhancement, and the effective utilization of local resources to foster self-reliance among tribal families.

Training and Resource Distribution in Banka District

BAU Sabour Launches "BATI Hub" to Empower Bihar's Tribal Communities

As part of the initiative, a one-day training program on “Importance of Vegetables and Home Garden Development” was conducted today at Srinagar village (Belhar Block) in Banka district. Vegetable seed kits were distributed to 60 tribal families to encourage the development of home gardens, enhancing their nutritional intake. Participants were also trained in the preparation of Moringa seeds and saplings, which can contribute to both nutrition and livelihood security.

BATI Hub’s Mission

The primary objective of the BATI Hub is to develop, disseminate, and promote appropriate agricultural technologies tailored to the specific needs of tribal communities. By fostering agricultural innovations that align with local contexts, the hub aims to ensure sustainable social, nutritional, and economic development.
