Bihar: 60 Laborers Trapped in Gandak River Flood Waters in Bagaha; SDRF Launches Rescue Operation
Bagaha: Around 60 laborers, including children, elderly, and women, who had crossed the Gandak River in Bagaha, West Champaran district, to work in the fields, are now trapped due to sudden flooding. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team from Bettiah has initiated a rescue operation.
The laborers went to the fields on Saturday morning when the water level of the Gandak River unexpectedly rose, surrounding them. The local administration acted promptly by summoning the SDRF team, which is currently engaged in the rescue effort.
Reports indicate that the trapped individuals have been without food since Saturday morning. In response, the administration is sending jaggery and chuda along with the rescue team to provide immediate relief.
“The rescue operation began as soon as we were informed,” stated a local administration official in Bagaha. “We urge everyone to remain patient and stay in safe areas.”
