Bihar Agricultural University Partners With Flightline Aviation to Launch Drone Training Program for Women

Sabour: Bihar Agricultural University (BAU), Sabour, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Flightline Aviation Academy, New Delhi, to launch the Bouquet of Harmonized Aviation and Agriculture Related Training Initiative (BHAARTI). The program, aimed at promoting drone technology and empowering women through skill development, will operate as a Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)-approved Remote Pilot Training Organization (RPTO).

BHAARTI will establish a dedicated Drone Technology Center of Excellence for women, offering pilot training, agricultural drone manufacturing, maintenance and repair services, and research opportunities. The initiative is expected to revolutionize Bihar’s agriculture sector by integrating advanced drone solutions for crop spraying, seeding, mapping, and environmental monitoring.

In line with BAU Sabour’s commitment to gender inclusion, the program will focus on training women, particularly from rural areas, in drone operations and agricultural applications. It aligns with the government’s vision of women’s empowerment by enabling participants to become certified drone pilots and entrepreneurs in the sector.

The training courses, approved by DGCA, will cover drone surveying and mapping, aerial cinematography, agricultural drone piloting for women, and drone maintenance and repair services. Flexible learning options, including weekday and weekend batches, will be available to accommodate professionals and working women.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Anshuman Kohli, CEO of SABCONs, BAU, Sabour, and Rishi Mishra, founder and director of Flightline Aviation Academy. Speaking at the event, Dr. D.R. Singh, vice-chancellor of BAU, highlighted that the three-month program would offer theoretical instruction, hands-on training, and industry-recognized certification, with financial assistance available under various government schemes.

Women scientists Dr. Neha Pandey and Dr. Mamta Kumari, along with PRO Dr. Rajesh Kumar, were present at the signing ceremony.
