Bihar: AIIMS Patna Marks Successful Institute Research Day Celebration
PATNA – The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Patna, commemorated its Institute Research Day today, with a series of engaging events highlighting the institution’s commitment to research excellence.
The celebration commenced with the Award Paper Competition sessions held on December 18th and 19th, featuring 56 research papers presented by both postgraduate students and faculty members. Dr. Gopal Krushna Pal, Executive Director of AIIMS Patna, inaugurated the award paper session, and four distinguished medical faculty members from AIIMS Delhi served as judges for the selection process. A total of eight outstanding papers were chosen, and the awards were presented during the inaugural function on December 20th.
The 1st Annual Research Day Oration took center stage on December 20th, featuring Prof. (Dr.) V. K. Paul, Member of NITI Ayog, as the speaker. The oration, held in the AIIMS Patna Auditorium, focused on the topic “COVID-19 Vaccination Schedule of India.” The event drew attendance from students, staff, and esteemed scientists and dignitaries of national repute.
Following the oration, the inauguration ceremony unfolded, with Prof. (Dr.) B. N. Gangadhar, Chairman of the National Medical Commission and former Director of NIMHANS, Bengaluru, as the Chief Guest. The function was presided over by Prof. (Dr.) Subrata Sinha, President of AIIMS Patna. Dr. Prem Kumar, Dean Research, delivered the welcome address. In his Research Day address, Dr. G. K. Pal shared that AIIMS Patna has successfully undertaken research projects exceeding 30 crore in extramural grants. Additionally, AIIMS Patna secured approval for the Diamonds Project from the Indian Council of Medical Research for a Cancer Project and the Atal Innovation Center from the Department of Biotechnology.
During the awards presentation, Chief Guest Dr. B. N. Gangadhar recognized excellence in research across various categories. Notable recipients included Dr. Gargee Anand for best research in Pre and Para-clinical subjects, Dr. Arun Srinivasan and Dr. Supriya Sharma for best research in Surgical specialties, and Dr. Akhilesh Goyal and Dr. Gayatri Sagdeo for best research in medical specialties among students. Faculty awardees included Dr. Meenakshi Tiwari, Dr. Saraj Kumar Singh, and Dr. Rajeev Ranjan for their outstanding contributions.
Dr. Kranti Bhavana, Faculty In-charge of Research at AIIMS Patna, expressed gratitude during the vote of thanks. The afternoon session featured a panel discussion on “How to Publish a Research Paper in a PubMed Indexed Journal,” featuring prominent experts in the field.
The Research Day concluded with a valedictory function chaired by the Director of IGIMS, marking a successful and enriching celebration of research achievements at AIIMS Patna.
