Bihar Assembly Erupts Over Rs25 Crore Tanishq Heist as Opposition Slams Law and Order, Nitish Kumar Promises Action

Patna : The recent armed robbery at a Tanishq jewellery store in Ara, Bihar, has sparked a political storm, with the incident resonating in the state’s Legislative Assembly. The opposition launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s government, questioning the deteriorating law and order situation and demanding accountability.
The heist, which took place in broad daylight just days ahead of Holi, saw criminals looting jewellery worth an estimated Rs25 crore. The brazen nature of the crime has raised concerns over security in Bihar, with opposition leaders using the incident to target the ruling alliance.
Assembly Uproar Over Robbery
As the Legislative Council convened on Tuesday, opposition members wasted no time in raising the issue. They pressed the government for an immediate response, arguing that such incidents reflected the failure of law enforcement in the state.
In response, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar assured the House that strict action would be taken. “The culprits will not be spared. I have instructed the authorities to act swiftly and ensure their arrest at the earliest,” Nitish Kumar said.
Despite these assurances, opposition leaders, including Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, continued to criticize the administration, pointing to a wider breakdown of law and order.
Tejashwi Yadav Slams Government on Social Media
Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Tejashwi Yadav posted a video of the robbery, sarcastically referring to it as a “Happy Holi video of showroom robbery.” He accused the NDA-led Bihar government of failing to control crime, alleging that criminals operated with impunity.
“In broad daylight, right near the police station, criminals looted ₹25 crore in just 15 minutes. Hundreds of rounds of bullets are fired in Bihar every day, and crime statistics continue to soar. The Chief Minister remains indifferent while corruption and anarchy take over,” Yadav wrote.
He further warned business owners to safeguard their assets, expressing doubt over the government’s ability to maintain security.
