Bihar braces for temperature drop next week as air quality remains poor

Patna: A drop in temperatures is expected across Bihar after the coming week, bringing the first hints of winter, according to the Patna Meteorological Center. For now, however, the weather will remain warmer than usual, with no immediate cold snap in sight.

Dry conditions are predicted to persist for the next two days, with maximum temperatures hovering between 29 and 31 degrees Celsius across the state. Minimum temperatures are expected to stay relatively high, at 20 to 22 degrees in southern Bihar and 19 to 21 degrees in northern Bihar—about 4 to 5 degrees above normal.

Meanwhile, air quality continues to be a concern, with pollution levels showing no improvement. On Thursday, Patna recorded an AQI of 248, marking it as ‘poor.’ Other areas in Bihar, including Hajipur, Siwan, and Begusarai, also reported high AQI levels.

Meteorological Department scientist SK Patel noted that while westerly winds are currently affecting the region, their speed is too slow to significantly lower temperatures. “We may see light fog in the mornings in humid and riverine areas, but it will dissipate quickly once the breeze picks up,” he said.
