Bihar Cabinet Approves Formation of First Youth Commission to Boost Employment and Skills

The Bihar cabinet has approved the formation of its first youth commission to make young people self-reliant, skilled and employment-oriented.

Patna: For the first time, a youth commission has been formed in Bihar to make young people self-reliant, skilled and employment-oriented, with the aim of securing their future.

The decision was approved during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday. The Chief Minister announced its formation on Instagram, stating that the Bihar Youth Commission will provide maximum employment opportunities to the youth, train them, and strengthen their capacity.

The commission will advise the government on all matters related to improving and uplifting the status of youth in society. It will also coordinate with various departments to ensure better education and employment opportunities for young people.

According to the government’s announcement, the Bihar Youth Commission will include a chairman, two vice-chairmen, and seven members, with a maximum age limit of 45 years. One of its main tasks will be to monitor that local youth are given priority in private sector jobs within the state. The commission will also work to protect the interests of students and workers from Bihar who are based outside the state.

In addition, it will prepare programmes to prevent alcohol and other drug abuse, sending recommendations to the government in such cases.

At a press conference, Additional Chief Secretary of the Cabinet Secretariat Department S Siddharth said the proper process for the formation of the commission will begin soon following cabinet approval. The cabinet meeting approved a total of 43 agendas.
