Bihar: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Inaugurates Kesariya Stupa Road Facility Center and Cafeteria, Lays Foundation Stone for Tourist Facility Development
MOTIHARI: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the road convenience center cum cafeteria of Kesariya Stupa in the East Champaran district today. The ceremony involved cutting the ribbon and unveiling the stone slab, marking the official opening of the facility. The project, with a budget of Rs 6.90 crore, aims to enhance the overall experience for tourists visiting the historical site.
Following the inauguration, Chief Minister Kumar conducted an inspection of the newly constructed cafeteria building. He expressed satisfaction with the construction quality, emphasizing its role in providing convenient accommodations for tourists. In a remote ceremony held at the Tourist Facilitation Center complex, the Chief Minister unveiled the stone slab and laid the foundation stone for the development works of the tourist facility at Kesariya Stupa. The allocated budget for this project is Rs 19.77 crore.
Officials presented a detailed site plan to the Chief Minister, outlining the proposed development works within the Kesariya Stupa premises. Buddhist monks from Mahabodhi Temple Bodhgaya chanted mantras during the ceremony, adding a spiritual touch to the event.
During the subsequent inspection of the Kesariya Buddhist Stupa complex, Chief Minister Kumar instructed officials to ensure that the development work is executed in a way that minimizes inconvenience for tourists. He emphasized the need for a well-constructed road from the main road to the Kesariya Buddhist Stupa and accessible paths for visitors to explore the site comfortably.
Recognizing the significance of adequate lighting, Chief Minister Kumar urged the installation of high mask lights around the Saffron Buddhist Stupa to illuminate the area at night. He suggested seeking permission from the Archaeological Survey of India for the lighting arrangement or utilizing high mask lights from end points if necessary.
The Chief Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to preserving and developing the Kesariya Buddhist Stupa and personally circumambulated the Saffron Buddhist Stupa, paying obeisance.
The event saw the participation of various dignitaries, including Finance, Commerce Tax and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Prohibition, Excise and Registration cum Motihari District Incharge Minister Sunil Kumar, Law Minister Shamim Ahmed, and other officials and local representatives. The Tourism Department Secretary Abhay Kumar Singh welcomed Chief Minister Kumar during the program, presenting him with a flower bunch and a bodysuit.
