Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday flagged off 20 pink buses dedicated to women and 166 deluxe buses aimed at improving public transport across Bihar. The ceremony, organised by the Transport Department, was held at 1 Anne Marg, the Chief Minister’s official residence.
Before the flag-off, Kumar inspected the new fleet and reviewed the onboard facilities. The pink buses, introduced under the state’s women empowerment initiative, are designed to ensure safe, comfortable and accessible travel for female passengers.
“The launch of pink buses is a meaningful step towards empowering women and enhancing their mobility,” said the Chief Minister.
In addition to the pink buses, 166 deluxe buses will now operate on various intra-state routes to facilitate smoother and more comfortable travel between districts.
Top government officials including Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Transport Minister Sheela Kumari, and senior bureaucrats attended the event.
