Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Inspects Home and Disaster Management Departments, Urges Timely, Diligent Governance

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar called for timely attendance and efficient work during an inspection of the Home and Disaster Management departments at Patel Bhawan, stressing the public’s trust in the police and the importance of disaster preparedness.

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday conducted a surprise inspection of the Home Department and Disaster Management Department at Patel Bhawan here, urging officials to uphold public trust and improve efficiency in law enforcement and emergency response systems.

The Chief Minister reviewed policing and administrative operations in a meeting with senior officials on the second floor of the Home Department. Emphasising the need for punctuality and discipline, CM Nitish said: “Everyone must come to the office on time and complete their work diligently. People have full faith in the police—live up to that trust and work responsibly to ensure strong law and order.”

The Chief Minister also visited the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC), where he was briefed by Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary of Disaster Management, Pratyaya Amrit. The centre, which operates round the clock, provides real-time data on weather patterns, temperature fluctuations and disaster-related developments across Bihar.

Describing the centre as “very useful,” the Chief Minister instructed officials to “keep it running effectively so that citizens continue to benefit.”

Continuing his inspection, CM Nitish toured the Bihar State Disaster Management Authority (BSDMA) office on the fifth floor, including its conference hall. He interacted with the Vice President, members, and senior officials of BSDMA, inquiring about ongoing preparedness measures and mitigation strategies. A fire safety awareness video was also presented during the session.

“Your work is crucial to saving lives during emergencies. Keep improving and innovating in your approach,” CM Nitish told the team.

The inspection was attended by several senior leaders and officials, including Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Disaster Management Minister Vijay Kumar Mandal, MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, BSDMA Vice President Dr Uday Kant, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, DGP Vinay Kumar, and senior officials from both departments.
