Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Inspects Site Bihta Airbase, Urges Speedy Construction of Civil Enclave
Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar recently conducted an on-site inspection of the proposed international airport at Bihta, emphasizing the need for swift commencement of construction to enhance air travel accessibility in Bihar. During his visit, officials from the Bihta Air Force Station provided the Chief Minister with detailed plans and maps outlining the modern facilities that will be incorporated into the airport’s design. The upcoming airport, expected to be equipped with state-of-the-art amenities, aims to improve air traffic management and ease the growing pressure on Patna’s existing airport.
“We are eager for the construction work to begin as soon as possible so that people can travel more comfortably by air,” Nitish Kumar stated during the inspection. He underscored the significance of the project in boosting connectivity across the region, reducing congestion at Patna airport, and fostering increased employment and business opportunities.
The plan to develop a civil enclave at Bihta Air Force Base Station has been in motion for some time. The state government initially approved 108 acres of land for the project, with the boundary wall already constructed. Recently, the Airport Authority requested an additional 8 acres, which the state government has also sanctioned, clearing the way for further development.
The Central Government has allocated Rs.1,413 crore for the development of Bihta Airport, which is expected to alleviate the growing pressure on Patna’s Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Airport. Once operational, the Bihta International Airport will serve as a vital hub for air travel in Bihar, offering modern amenities and increasing the state’s connectivity to other parts of India and the world.
Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister, Deepak Kumar, along with key officials including the Secretary to the Chief Minister, Anupam Kamar, Secretary to the Chief Minister, Kumar Ravi, Patna District Magistrate, Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police, Rajiv Mishra, and representatives from the Bihta Air Force Station and Airport Authority, were present during the inspection.
