
Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday inspected the Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna to review preparations for the Khelo India Youth Games 2025, scheduled to begin on May 4.
During his visit, CM Nitish toured key facilities including the Central Control and Command Centre, Conference Hall, Stadium, Indoor Stadium, and observed practice sessions by athletes and artists preparing for the opening ceremony. He also reviewed the world’s largest Madhubani painting, created specially for the event, and was presented with the Guinness World Record certificate recognising the achievement. Fifty artists from the Mithila Chitrakala Sansthan, Saurath, Madhubani, worked continuously for 50 hours to complete the painting.
The Chief Minister honoured Padma Shri awardee Baua Devi for her contribution to the artwork. He was also handed the Guinness World Record certificate for a performance featuring 375 Bal Lamas with singing bowls, another highlight planned for the opening ceremony.
For the first time, Bihar will host the Khelo India Youth Games, running from May 4 to 15. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the event in Patna. Around 8,500 athletes and 1,500 coaches and technical officers from 28 states and 8 union territories will participate across 28 sporting disciplines. The competitions will be held across five cities — Patna, Gaya, Rajgir, Bhagalpur, and Begusarai.
Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr S Siddharth, Secretary Kumar Ravi, Officer on Special Duty Gopal Singh, and Director General and CEO of Bihar State Sports Authority Raveendran Sankaran, among other senior officials, accompanied the Chief Minister during the inspection.
