Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary Criticises Rahul Gandhi Over Caste Survey Remarks
Patna: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of insulting the state by questioning the caste survey conducted in line with a unanimous resolution passed by the Bihar Legislative Assembly.
Samrat criticised the Congress leader for carrying what he called a “fake copy” of the Constitution, stating that true constitutional values are upheld through action, not symbolism. “If he is truly committed to the Constitution, he should explain why the Congress failed to conduct a caste census in its 60 years of rule,” he said.
Drawing comparisons, the deputy CM questioned why the Congress-led Karnataka government had not released the findings of its 2016 caste census, despite spending Rs 160 crore on it. He also demanded answers on when the Congress would conduct a similar survey in Himachal Pradesh and why it had failed to implement the caste survey in Telangana.
The BJP leader accused Rahul of undermining constitutional institutions, stating that the Congress has repeatedly cast doubts over the Election Commission, electronic voting machines (EVMs), Parliament, and legislative assemblies. “Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and their party have a history of disrespecting constitutional institutions, whether in power or in opposition,” he said.
Challenging the Congress’s stance, Samrat asked why the Karnataka caste census remains unpublished. “If the Karnataka caste census is legitimate, why is Rahul Gandhi hesitant to release it? Under whose pressure was the scheduled release on January 15 delayed?” he said.
