Bihar DGP Cracks Down on Unfit Cops, Misuse of Police and Press Stickers on Vehicles

Patna: Bihar DGP Vinay Kumar has reiterated that unfit policemen will be retired from service. Along with this, vehicles with special identification such as “Police” and “Press” will be thoroughly checked. He stated that many such vehicles are being misused for illegal activities, including drug and liquor supply. Strict enforcement of this rule will be ensured.

Regarding police fitness, DGP Vinay Kumar emphasized that the provision for retirement of unfit policemen already exists. Their work and efficiency will be reviewed, and those found unable to perform their duties will be given retirement along with pension benefits. The police headquarters has issued instructions to all SSPs, SPs, and heads of railway police and other units to prepare a list of such officers.

The Bihar Police has decided to take action against inefficient and unfit policemen above 50 years of age. The process is expected to be completed by March 31. Those suffering from severe illnesses that hinder their ability to work will also be considered for retirement. A comprehensive review will be conducted before finalizing the list.

The directive applies to officers from the rank of constable to DSP. Bihar Police will also investigate DSP-rank officers to ensure efficiency within the force. The step is being taken to enhance the effectiveness of law enforcement and eliminate any inefficiency from the system.
