Darbhanga: A six-year-old girl is in critical condition after a brutal attack in Kusheshwarsthan, Darbhanga district. She is receiving intensive care at the gynaecology department of a government hospital. Police have arrested a 50-year-old suspect after reviewing CCTV footage from the area.
According to police reports, the incident took place on Sunday night when the child went to deliver milk to a local shopkeeper. She was allegedly abducted and assaulted in a secluded location. When she failed to return home by 10.30pm, her family launched a search and found her severely injured, covered in blood, and groaning in pain. She was rushed to a primary health centre before being transferred to the hospital at 1am. Doctors at the hospital declared her condition critical and admitted her to the ICU of the gynaecology ward at 4am.
Speaking to the media, a doctor treating the girl confirmed that her condition remains grave. Meanwhile, senior police officials, including SSP Jagunath Reddy and Rural SP Alok, have been deployed in the area.
SDO Manish Chandra Chaudhary stated that police swiftly acted on the case, scanning CCTV footage from the locality and arresting the accused. “We are questioning the accused and gathering further information,” Chaudhary said.
