Patna: The Bihar education department has launched an initiative to swiftly resolve complaints raised by teachers, students, vendors, and other stakeholders. Two toll-free numbers – 14417 and 18003454417 – have been released to ensure immediate registration of grievances.
A detailed list categorising complaints into six sections has also been issued to streamline the redressal process. According to the department, the list will help complainants identify the category of their problem and contact the appropriate authority for a solution.
The six categories are as follows:
- School-related complaints: These include issues related to infrastructure such as building repairs, toilets, furniture, drinking water, electricity connections, fans, tube lights, classroom operations, computer labs, parent-teacher seminars, availability of sports materials, teachers’ conduct, and mid-day meals.
- Teacher-related issues: This category covers complaints regarding transfers, salary payments, increments, arrears, salary fixation, approval of maternity, medical or other leaves, retirement benefits, service book updates, and corrections in teacher data.
- Student-related problems: Complaints under this include schemes such as Kanya Utthan Yojana, bicycle distribution, uniforms, scholarships, textbooks, FLN kits, transfer certificates, mark sheets, other certificates, and incidents of indecent behaviour towards girl students.
- Vendor or supplier complaints: This includes matters related to tenders, payments, and onboarding problems.
- University or college-related issues: Grievances can be registered regarding enrolment, delayed academic sessions, examinations, fees, non-issuance of migration certificates, and indecent behaviour with female professors or students.
- Recovery of illegal amounts: Complaints of corruption, bribery, or illegal recovery within the education department fall under this category.
The department has instructed teachers to upload complaints using their login IDs on the Grievance Module of e-Shikshakosh. It has also advised against sending complaints via WhatsApp or email to officers at any level.
