Bihar Engineering University Holds First Convocation Ceremony, Top Students Felicitated by CM Nitish Kumar

Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, serving as the Chancellor of Bihar Engineering University (BEU), inaugurated the university’s first convocation today at ‘Samvad’ in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. The ceremony, marked by traditional lamp lighting, saw the Chief Minister honoring top-performing engineering students with degrees, medals, and laptops.

A short film showcasing the achievements of the Department of Science, Technology, and Technical Education was screened during the event, and a commemorative book of the university was released by the Chief Minister. Dr. Pratima, Secretary of the Department of Science, Technology, and Technical Education, presented the Chief Minister with a green plant and a memento as a token of appreciation.

Students who received awards had a group photo session with the Chief Minister, who extended his congratulations and wished them a bright future.

Vision for Technical Education

The establishment of Bihar Engineering University is part of the state government’s Seven Nischay program, spearheaded by Nitish Kumar. The initiative aims to enhance the quality of technical education and ensure regular academic sessions. Government engineering colleges have been set up across all districts, with significant investments in infrastructure, laboratories, workshops, and smart classrooms.

The Chief Minister emphasized making engineering colleges fully residential, with hostels and faculty accommodations under construction. Beyond academics, the institutions are focusing on sports, yoga, and mental health for the all-around development of students. These measures have contributed to improved employment opportunities, with many students securing positions in reputable organizations.

The event was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, along with other senior leaders, including Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Education Minister Sunil Kumar, and Science, Technology, and Technical Education Minister Sumit Kumar Singh. Senior bureaucrats, including Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar and Principal Secretary Dr. S. Siddharth, were also present, along with Vice Chancellor of BEU Professor Suresh Kant Verma, faculty members, students, and their families.
