Patna: The third accused in the Boring Canal Road shootout in Patna, identified as Shanu, surrendered at the Patna Civil Court on Saturday, following the earlier surrender of two accomplices on Friday. The shooting, which took place on May 24 in the New Punaichak area of western Boring Canal Road, was triggered by a minor car collision and quickly escalated into a violent confrontation.
According to authorities, Shanu and his two friends returned to the scene in a black Scorpio SUV and fired approximately six rounds. Police have since recovered the vehicle used in the incident. All three accused, who are reportedly friends, will now be taken on remand and questioned together.
Shanu, a resident of Sabzibagh, joins his co-accused in custody as law enforcement intensifies its investigation. A CCTV grab from the incident shows individuals believed to be involved, exiting a Scorpio without a number plate and opening fire.
The fallout from the shooting has extended into the police force itself. Ten officers have been suspended for negligence in connection with the case. An inspector’s son has also been taken in for questioning, with investigators probing his possible involvement.
Central SP Sweety Sehrawat has been tasked with leading the inquiry. Further disciplinary action against police personnel is expected once her report is submitted.
