Bihar Environment Minister Reviews Green Initiatives, Urges Speedier Plantation Drive and Grassroots Participation

Patna: Bihar’s Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister, Dr Sunil Kumar, on Saturday chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the progress of state-run environmental schemes and ongoing afforestation efforts.
The meeting brought together senior officials from the department to examine the condition of major parks across the state, as well as the status of works completed or underway in the current financial year. Dr Kumar emphasised the need for transparent, timely, and high-quality execution of all projects, particularly those targeting ecological balance and climate resilience.
Calling for greater urgency in Bihar’s plantation drive, the minister directed officials to ensure effective implementation of environmental programmes at both the block and district levels. He also reviewed the progress of afforestation efforts, climate change mitigation schemes, and forest expansion projects.
“The success of our schemes depends not only on execution but also on community involvement. Ensuring this must be a top priority for the department,” Dr Kumar said, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development.
He instructed officials to strengthen coordination at the grassroots level and adopt a result-oriented approach to meet the government’s environmental goals.
