Bihar Government Prioritizes Electric Vehicles to Combat Rising Pollution

State Transport Minister Sheela Kumari

Patna: In a bid to address the escalating pollution levels in the state, Transport Minister Sheela Kumari has announced that the Bihar government is intensifying efforts to promote electric vehicles (EVs). The initiative includes financial incentives for the establishment of charging stations, granted upon the purchase of electric vehicles.

Also, under the Chief Minister Transport Scheme, the government is taking proactive steps to enhance connectivity between remote blocks and district headquarters, as well as Patna, by providing more buses. The scheme is set to include the operation of government-run buses to facilitate improved transportation services.

Addressing Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s role in the INDIA Alliance, Minister Sheela emphasized that despite not holding a prominent position, Nitish’s responsibility is substantial. She commended Nitish for successfully bringing together opposition parties under the INDIA alliance banner, highlighting him as the sole initiator of this nationwide collaboration.

“There are many leaders, but no one has the ability to unite everyone like Nitish Kumar. His decisions are widely accepted, and everyone is committed to working collaboratively under his guidance. The strategy devised by him will be diligently followed by all,” the minister said.

The Transport Minister underscored Nitish’s unique ability to unify diverse political voices, expressing confidence in the effectiveness of the strategies laid out by the Chief Minister. As Bihar seeks sustainable solutions to combat pollution and enhance transportation, the government’s push towards electric vehicles marks a crucial step in aligning with contemporary environmental priorities.
