Patna: The Bihar Education Department has changed the timings for government schools. Schools will operate from 9 am to 4:30 pm starting July 1st. Students will be dismissed at 3:15 pm, while teachers will finish at 4:30 pm.

Principals, teachers, and staff are required to arrive 10 minutes before school starts. Teachers must teach for at least 7.5 hours daily. They will assign homework every day and check it the following day. These details were highlighted in the order issued by the Director of Secondary Education on Wednesday.

The order stated that teachers are required to teach for a minimum of 45 hours per week, ensuring at least 7.5 hours of teaching daily. This time can be extended as needed to complete the curriculum. With half-yearly exams scheduled for September, special attention should be given to the syllabus. For classes 1 to 8, activities under the ‘Bagless Safe Saturday’ initiative will be implemented.

Teaching will continue in secondary and higher secondary schools until the lunch break. Afterward, there will be activities such as student assembly, sports, creative activities, and meetings with parents. In months with a fifth Saturday, cultural programs and exhibitions of students’ work or activities will be organized, which will be evaluated by teachers.
