Bihar: IAS Officer Sanjeev Hans and Former MLA Gulab Yadav Arrested in ED Crackdown

ED seizes assets worth Rs. 23.72 crore in case against Bihar IAS officer Sanjeev Hans

Patna: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Bihar-cadre IAS officer Sanjeev Hans following a day-long raid at his official residence in Patna. In connection with the same case, former MLA Gulab Yadav was apprehended at a resort in Delhi.

The ED had previously conducted raids at three locations associated with Sanjeev Hans, spanning from Patna to Delhi. The agency registered a new case against Hans just days prior to the arrests. During the investigation, substantial evidence emerged implicating not only Sanjeev Hans but also his wife and several relatives.

In a significant development, the ED seized ₹90 lakh in cash and 13 kg of silver bars from the properties linked to Hans and Yadav’s close associates. Additionally, documents and electronic evidence related to multiple benami properties were uncovered during the searches.

On Wednesday, the ED targeted four locations connected to the associates of both Sanjeev Hans and Gulab Yadav in Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai. This follows a series of raids conducted over the past two months, which included a dozen locations in Patna, Pune, Punjab, Delhi, Noida, and other areas across the country as part of an investigation into money laundering.

The situation for the senior IAS officer appears to be deteriorating, with the ED intensifying its scrutiny following the discovery of black money related to ongoing allegations of gang rape. The agency’s grip on Sanjeev Hans and former MLA Gulab Yadav is tightening, with raids on the properties of Hans’s associates continuing for the past two days.

During the search operations, the ED uncovered several cases involving suspicious transactions and benami properties. Sources indicate that the investigating agency has obtained critical documents and evidence, providing significant insights into the ongoing investigation.
