Bihar Launches Training Program to Improve Fortified Rice Distribution

Patna: The Bihar Food and Consumer Protection Department has launched a phased training program to enhance quality control and storage of fortified rice, a key initiative aimed at addressing nutritional deficiencies in the state.
The program will be conducted in three phases, beginning with training for master trainers—including Assistant District Supply Officers, Marketing Officers, and Supply Inspectors—at the divisional level from March 21 to April 2. In the second phase, fair price shop owners at the block level will be trained to ensure effective distribution. The final phase, scheduled from April 5 to April 10, will focus on community awareness, with sessions held at fair price shops and nearby locations.
“This training is essential for maintaining the quality and nutritional value of fortified rice,” said Rajesh Kumar, Director of Food and Consumer Protection. He stressed the importance of community engagement in raising awareness about its benefits.
The department has instructed all divisional commissioners and district magistrates to ensure participation from relevant officials. By strengthening the fortified rice supply chain, the initiative aims to improve public health outcomes across Bihar.
