Patna: Amid escalating tensions within the Yadav political dynasty, estranged Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tej Pratap Yadav has claimed that his life is in danger and has requested security cover from the government. Speaking to a news agency, the elder son of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad alleged a conspiracy behind his recent expulsion from both the party and the family.
“There is a threat to my life. My enemies are everywhere,” Tej Pratap said, accusing a group of four to five people of working systematically to “ruin” his personal life and political career. “These are the same people who threw me out of my own home and my party. I won’t forgive them.”
While this is not the first time Tej Pratap has publicly lashed out following his ouster, it is the most serious yet, as he raised concerns over his personal safety. He alleged that those responsible for his removal were trying to isolate him and suppress his voice. “But Tej Pratap Yadav cannot be silenced. I will go to the people now. They will do justice,” he said.
He reiterated his demand for government protection, stating, “If anything happens to me, those responsible must be held accountable.”
Tej Pratap also used the opportunity to signal his continued political ambition, announcing his intention to contest the upcoming Bihar assembly elections. He dismissed the idea of launching a separate party but said he would seek the people’s mandate independently if necessary.
“I am still an MLA, chosen by the people of Hasanpur. Just because I’ve been expelled doesn’t mean I won’t fight,” he said.
While refraining from directly naming the individuals he accuses of plotting against him, he warned, “When the time comes, I will name them all.”
Tej Pratap’s strained relationship with his family, particularly after a viral Facebook post linking him to a woman named Anushka Yadav, led to his expulsion from the RJD for six years. Though he claimed the post was the result of a hacked account and doctored images, the damage was done. The RJD, led by Lalu Prasad, swiftly disowned him both organisationally and personally.
Still, Tej Pratap insists his fight is far from over. “I am not afraid of anyone. Injustice has been done to me on social media and in the political space. But I have faith in the people of Bihar,” he said.
