Bihar: Life Imprisonment for Three in Congress MLA’s Nephew Murder Case

SASARAM – Additional District and Sessions Judge 19, Inderjit Singh, handed down life imprisonment to three individuals in connection with the murder of Sanjeev Mishra, the nephew of Congress MLA Santosh Mishra.

The accused, Chunnu Rai alias Sarvottam Rai, Niranjan Rai, and Dharmendra Kumar, all residents of Salthua in the Kudra police station area of Kaimur district, were also fined Rs 50,000 each.

The court found the trio guilty based on the testimonies of witnesses who accurately identified them as the perpetrators of the murder.

The incident, which occurred on February 27, 2021, at Baba Market in Parasathua Bazaar around 5:40 pm, prompted Sanjeev Mishra’s brother and GNM College Secretary, Manjeev Mishra, to file an FIR at Kochas police station. The motive behind the murder was reported to be longstanding rivalry. The prosecution gathered testimonies from a total of 10 witnesses during the case.

Following a thorough examination, the court convicted the accused in the murder case, imposing rigorous life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000 on each individual.

The courtroom was packed as the verdict was delivered. Manjeev Mishra expressed that justice had been served, bringing solace to his brother’s soul. Congress MLA Santosh Mishra, from Karghar, expressed confidence in the judiciary, emphasizing that the court would mete out appropriate punishment for the crime.
