Bihar minister Ratnesh Sada injured in road accident during morning walk
Saharsa: Ratnesh Sada, Bihar’s Excise and Prohibition Minister and a JD(U) leader, sustained minor injuries in a road accident during a morning walk on Wednesday. The incident occurred around 5 am near Balia Simar village in the Mahisi police station area of Saharsa district when an auto-rickshaw collided with him.
Sada suffered injuries to his head and leg and was immediately rushed to Saharsa Sadar Hospital, where he received first aid. He was later discharged, as his condition did not warrant hospitalisation. Speaking to reporters, Sada assured that his injuries were minor. “I am fine and healthy,” he said.
The minister was accompanied by four security personnel at the time of the accident, all of whom were also injured. One guard sustained significant injuries to his right leg, requiring stitches. Like the minister, the guards were treated at Sadar Hospital and discharged shortly after.
Civil surgeon Dr. Varun Kumar, who attended to the minister, confirmed that Sada had a minor head injury and a wound on his leg. “A CT scan and X-ray were conducted, and the reports were normal. The minister is diabetic, and his blood pressure was slightly elevated upon arrival, but his condition stabilised quickly. He requested to be discharged, and we found no reason to keep him under observation,” said Dr. Kumar.
Sada, who currently oversees Bihar’s prohibition department, had returned to his village in Saharsa on Tuesday night to celebrate the New Year. The minister’s assurance of good health has provided relief to party members and supporters, who had expressed concern following the incident. Local authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
