
Patna: A 20-year-old NEET candidate was found dead in a hotel room in Hajipur late on Monday, a day after appearing for the national medical entrance examination.
The deceased, identified as Kuber Kumar, was a resident of Azampur Khorampur under Desari block in Vaishali district. He had been living with his family in Veer Kunwar Singh Colony in Hajipur town. His father, Ravi Shankar, is employed at the Patna GPO in the postal department.
Police said Kuber had taken the NEET exam at a school in the Digghi area on Sunday. He returned home but left again that night without informing his family. When he did not return, the family filed a missing person’s report at Hajipur town police station in the morning.
Based on the mobile phone location, police traced Kuber to a hotel at Anjan Peer Chowk. His body was found hanging from the ceiling fan in room number 105 on the second floor. His jeans, shirt, bag, wallet and other belongings were found scattered in the room.
An investigation is underway, and the hotel operator is being questioned by police. A case of unnatural death has been registered.
The news of Kuber’s death has plunged his family into grief, with relatives demanding a thorough inquiry. He is survived by his parents, two brothers, and a sister.
