Patna: Two people were died by lightning in Bihar over the weekend as heavy rainfall lashed parts of the state. On Sunday, a farmer, Anil Prasad Yadav, 50, died after being struck by lightning in Baja village under Amarpur block of Banka district. A day earlier, a woman lost her life in Rohtas due to a similar strike.
Meanwhile, the water level of the Son river in Rohtas has risen above the danger mark. District authorities have instructed residents of villages along the riverbanks to remain alert and prepare for possible evacuation if needed.
Rainfall was recorded in at least 14 districts on Sunday afternoon, including Patna, Banka, Madhepura, Lakhisarai, Katihar, Bihar Sharif, Chapra, Jehanabad, Sheikhpura, Hajipur, Begusarai, Munger, Buxar, and Supaul.
According to the Meteorological Centre, monsoon activity is expected to intensify from July 16 onwards as a weather system forms over the Bay of Bengal and the trough line shifts northwards. This will initially impact South Bihar before spreading to northern regions. However, temperatures are likely to remain stable over the next three to four days.
