Bihar NRI Family to Celebrate Chhath in the U.S. After Ritual Training in Hajipur

Hajipur: Suchita Jha, an NRI from Madhubani who has been living in America for the past 20 years, is preparing to celebrate Chhath festival for the first time abroad. A resident of Jhanjharpur Navtol Behat in Madhubani district, Suchita traveled with her family to Hajipur, Vaishali, to receive training on the traditional rituals of Chhath from Awadhesh Singh and his wife Sudha Kumari Sharma.

Suchita, along with her parents Satish Kumar Jha and Hemlata Jha, and daughter Anchita Jha, learned about the festival’s customs, cleanliness requirements, Nirjala fast, and worship methods. The family was also provided with essential materials like daura, soup, sari, and dhoti to perform the rituals back in America.

Chhath, a significant festival of folk devotion celebrated in the month of Kartik, is observed with great enthusiasm in states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand. The festival is now also embraced by Indians living abroad, continuing their traditions with equal faith and dedication.
