Patna: After four rounds of counseling, a total of 10,363 seats have been filled out of 13,675 available in 38 government engineering colleges across the state. This year marks a significant increase in admissions, the highest recorded in recent years. In contrast, during the 2023-24 academic session, only 5,733 seats were filled in the same colleges.

Following the conclusion of the second round of counseling, 7,942 seats remained vacant. CB Mahato, Principal of Bihar Engineering College in Ara, noted that a significant shortage of teachers in engineering colleges had been addressed this year, contributing to the higher enrollment figures compared to previous years.

There remains an opportunity to enroll in 3,312 vacant seats across the 38 engineering colleges, as well as 104 vacant seats in Dairy and CIPET programs. The Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB) has opened the registration window for these seats from October 10 to 16. Corrections to the application forms can be made on October 17, and the merit list will be released on October 19, alongside the admission schedule.

BCECEB announced that after the special counseling session for UGEAC-2024, admissions will be conducted by allocating remaining seats to students from the PCM and PCMB groups based on the merit list. Additionally, BCECEB has encouraged all eligible candidates who have appeared for JEE Main 2024 and possess NEET scores to apply.

On May 13 and June 16, 2024, students who appeared for JEE Main were registered and admitted based on merit. Those who participated in JEE Main but did not apply online now have the chance to fill out fresh registration and application forms.

Candidates who have previously filled out online applications or were absent from special counseling for any reason are also eligible to submit their choices during this round. It is mandatory for these students to fill out their choices; otherwise, they will not be able to participate in the special counseling. BCECEB confirmed that all students who missed earlier counseling sessions are welcome to take part in this special counseling opportunity.
