Patna: Bihar’s road construction department has approved projects worth Rs 23 crore aimed at improving connectivity in Patna and Muzaffarpur. The state’s road construction minister, Nitin Nabin, announced on Friday that the government has granted administrative approval for two infrastructure projects—one in each city—to address chronic traffic congestion and improve overall road conditions.
In Patna, Rs 6.67 crore has been allocated for the widening and strengthening of the road stretch between Kankarbagh Road No. 2 and Road No. 4, passing by Kendriya Vidyalaya. The Kankarbagh locality is among the most densely populated areas of the city, and officials say the project is intended to bring order to the area’s increasingly chaotic traffic.
“The government is working continuously to decongest Kankarbagh and ensure smoother traffic flow for city residents,” Nabin said.
Meanwhile, a larger portion of the funding—Rs16.40 crore—has been earmarked for Muzaffarpur, where a road improvement project will cover the stretch from Madipur Power House Chowk to Sakri. Authorities say the renovation will offer motorists an alternative route between Muzaffarpur and Patna, potentially easing pressure on the main highways.
According to Nabin, the project is expected to reduce congestion, improve traffic movement, and provide relief to daily commuters. “We are committed to strengthening the road network across Bihar. Under the leadership of the chief minister, the government is taking proactive steps to improve public infrastructure and reduce travel inconvenience,” he said.
The initiatives are part of a broader push by the Bihar government to enhance transportation links across the state and support economic development through improved road infrastructure.
