Patna: Motorists travelling through Patna at night will need to plan their routes carefully from October 1 to 8, as several major flyovers and bridges will be temporarily closed for traffic during scheduled technical inspections.
The Road Construction Department will conduct load testing and condition surveys of selected bridges and flyovers. The technical testing will be carried out under the supervision of IIT Patna.
According to the announced schedule, the affected structures will face traffic restrictions for around two hours, from 2 am to 4 am, on designated dates.
R-Block Flyover to Close on October 1
The first traffic restriction will be imposed on the R-Block Road Flyover during the night of October 1.

GPO Circle-Chiraiyatand Stretch on October 2
On October 2, technical testing will be conducted on the stretch between GPO Circle and Chiraiyatand Flyover.

Why Are the Flyovers Being Closed?
The temporary closures are part of load testing and condition surveys designed to assess the structural condition and load-bearing performance of the bridges and flyovers.
The technical assessment can help authorities determine whether structures are able to handle existing traffic loads and whether additional repair, maintenance or other measures are required.
Travellers Advised to Plan Routes in Advance
Traffic authorities have advised motorists travelling during the affected hours to plan their journeys in advance and use alternative routes wherever necessary.
The restrictions may particularly affect people travelling late at night towards railway stations, bus terminals, the airport and other parts of the city.
The schedule does not mean that all the flyovers will remain closed throughout the period. Only the designated structure or road section will face restrictions on its scheduled date, generally between 2 am and 4 am.
Motorists are advised to allow additional travel time and check traffic updates before beginning late-night journeys.
