Bihar Panchayat By-Elections: Nominations Begin for 1675 Seats, Voting on December 28
PATNA – Nomination for Panchayat by-elections for 1675 seats in Bihar is starting today. The voting is scheduled for December 28, with the results expected on December 30. Voting will take place from 7 am to 5 pm, and the model code of conduct has been enforced in the respective electoral areas.
According to the notification issued by the State Election Commission, nomination papers must be filed by December 15. The scrutiny of nomination papers will take place from December 16 to 18, and candidates can withdraw their names until December 20. Voting will occur on December 28, and the counting of votes will commence on December 30, starting at 8 am.
The by-elections will be held for a total of 1675 seats, with the maximum number of Panch member posts and the minimum Zilla Parishad seats being four. The elections will cover 4 posts of Zilla Parishad member, 21 of Mukhiya, 36 of Sarpanch, 20 of Panchayat Samiti, 353 of Gram Panchayat member, and 2141 posts of Panch. These by-elections are being conducted after a gap of 2 years, focusing on the posts that remained vacant in 2021 or due to the death of the Panchayat representatives.
