Patna, 19th October 2023: As Durga Puja festivities draw near, the Police Headquarters in Bihar has alerted all districts to maintain special vigilance, with a focus on identifying sensitive areas and deploying additional forces.

The authorities have also stepped up their efforts in border districts adjoining Nepal, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Bengal. Instructions for 24-hour vigilance in these areas have been issued to Range IG, DIG, and SSPs across districts. Police Headquarters has additionally deployed extra police forces to bolster security.

In Patna district, the security measures are notably extensive. A whopping 12,500 constables and 33 companies of Bihar Special Armed Police (B-SAP) have been deployed. Furthermore, Central Company Police forces are being brought in for added strength. The district police have been instructed to identify individuals with suspicious backgrounds and require them to post bonds. To date, bonds totaling more than 2.5 lakh individuals have been processed.

With festivals often a breeding ground for misinformation, Police Headquarters has made a public appeal not to give credence to rumors. Citizens are encouraged to rely on verified information available on official social media channels of the District Police and Bihar Police. Police officials have been directed to monitor activities aimed at creating social discord.

Community involvement has been encouraged as well, with puja committee members being asked to assist in maintaining law and order around large pandals. The committees are also urged to install CCTV cameras for enhanced security and to avoid playing music at high volumes.
