Bihar Police Partners with Map My India to Provide Real-Time Traffic Updates
Patna: Traffic jams and route uncertainties on Bihar’s roads may soon become a thing of the past. Starting October 1, Bihar Police, in collaboration with Map My India, will offer real-time traffic updates to the public. This initiative, introduced through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed on September 12, aims to provide up-to-the-minute traffic information, accidents, and alternative routes via the Map My India app.
Unlike Google Maps, this app will feature exclusive data directly updated by the Bihar Police, offering details not available on other platforms. For instance, users will be able to receive immediate alerts about accidents, roadblocks, and even alternative routes to avoid congestion, providing a significant improvement in Bihar’s traffic management system.
The app promises more than just traffic updates. It will also guide travelers to nearby restaurants, petrol stations, and even ATMs along their journey, making road trips across Bihar more convenient. Whether driving on a national or state highway, users will be able to locate essential services, ensuring a smoother and more enjoyable travel experience.
A crucial feature of the app is its role in improving road safety. In collaboration with the Bihar Traffic Police, the app has identified 262 “black spots” – areas where road accidents frequently occur. As users approach these dangerous sections, the app will send alerts to drive cautiously, helping to reduce the risk of accidents. The app also notifies users of sharp turns, overspeeding, and other safety hazards, ensuring a safer driving experience.
Bihar Police will continuously provide real-time data to the app, which will be updated instantly. For example, if there is an accident or a traffic jam on a particular route, drivers will be informed in advance, allowing them to choose alternate routes. Additionally, users will receive updates about traffic signals, speed limits, and CCTV cameras installed along the way.
Map My India is a homegrown company specializing in digital mapping and navigation solutions. Operating for the last 27 years, it has been a key partner to major car manufacturers in India and boasts a user base of over 2 crore people. Bihar has become the 7th state in India to adopt this system, following Uttar Pradesh, where the system was first introduced.
The integration of Map My India’s advanced features is expected to revolutionize the travel experience in Bihar, offering a one-stop solution for traffic management and road safety, benefiting both local residents and travelers.
With the app’s additional features, such as locating coffee shops, ATMs, and other amenities, drivers can now plan their trips more efficiently and safely, ensuring a more informed and enjoyable journey across Bihar.
