PATNA – The Department of Posts has announced a new initiative to provide ease of access for disabled, elderly, and vulnerable citizens requiring annual life certificates for pensions. Starting December 1, the Postal Department will offer a home delivery service for life certificates, ensuring individuals need not visit post offices or government offices.

This convenient service can be availed from the comfort of one’s home at a nominal fee of just Rs 70 through the Postal Department. While this service remains free at post offices, a charge will be applied for home visits.

For those utilizing the internet, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) app allows individuals to generate life certificates for free. The Indian Postal Department is continuously enhancing its service system to extend its outreach directly to households.

As part of this effort, all post offices, including those in rural areas, are being equipped with computer systems and mobile facilities. These mobile postal services have been specially designed to benefit residents in remote villages.

Anil Kumar, the Chief Postmaster General of Bihar Circle, explained that in addition to creating life certificates at households, every postal worker has been provided with IP mobile devices to facilitate other services, such as updating residents’ Aadhaar cards, opening postal accounts, and initiating the Sukanya Samriddhi Account, among others.

The monitoring of all provided services will be entirely online, allowing consumers to track their requests from their homes. IP devices have already been distributed to all postal workers in the district, and this service is being extended to other districts as well.
