Patna: In a show of solidarity and service, 207 units of blood were donated on Saturday during a special camp organised to mark World Blood Donor Day. The camp was held under the joint aegis of the Bihar IAS, IPS and IFS Associations, with active support from their respective family associations.
The event, which took place in Patna, witnessed enthusiastic participation from civil servants and their families, who turned up to contribute towards saving lives. The collected blood was handed over to hospitals across the city to be used for patients in need.
The camp was formally inaugurated by Bihar Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena, Director General of Police Vinay Kumar, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Prabhat Kumar Gupta and former Chief Secretary V.S. Dubey.
Speaking at the event, Chief Secretary Meena said, “Blood donation is one of the noblest forms of service. A single unit of blood can save a life. Through this camp, we reaffirm our commitment to serve the people beyond our professional duties.”
The initiative was also supported by the IAS, IPS, and IFS Wives Associations, whose members played a key role in organising and coordinating the camp.
Observed globally on June 14 each year, World Blood Donor Day is dedicated to voluntary, unpaid donors who help save millions of lives through regular and safe blood donations. The day serves to raise awareness about the ongoing need for blood and to thank donors for their life-saving contributions.
