Bihar Receives Rs 2,766 Crore Central Assistance for Development Projects: Samrat Choudhary

Patna: Deputy Chief Minister- cum- finance minister Samrat Choudhary announced that Bihar has received an additional Rs 2,766 crore from the central government for capital development schemes, highlighting the continuous increase in central assistance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He also credited Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s efforts for securing additional support for ongoing projects.

Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, the deputy CM said the funds, provided as an interest-free loan for 50 years, will be utilized for key infrastructure projects. These include the construction of roads, medical colleges, hospitals, ANM schools and hostels, power substations, police buildings, schools, irrigation systems, flood control measures, drinking water supply infrastructure, and the development of tourism centers.

“The state government, under Nitish Kumar’s leadership, is committed to accelerating Bihar’s development and creating additional employment opportunities through capital expenditure,” Samrat said.

Since 2020-21, the central government has been offering 50-year interest-free loans to states for financing capital schemes. Bihar has received Rs 19,360 crore under this initiative from 2020-21 to 2023-24. For the financial year 2024-25, the state has been allocated Rs 11,522 crore so far, which includes Rs 5,532 crore earmarked in Part-1 and the recent allocation of Rs 2,766 crore on January 24, 2025.

The deputy CM emphasized the state government’s commitment to leveraging these funds for robust infrastructure development, aiming to further enhance Bihar’s growth trajectory.
