Patna: The ambitious Salepur-Narsanda-Telmar-Karauta 2-lane paved shoulder road project in Nalanda district, being constructed at a cost of ₹265 crore by the Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation Ltd., is making steady progress. This strategic roadway connects State Highway 78 at Salepur to the 224 km stretch of NH-30 near Karauta, traversing key areas like Uttara, Bheriya, Narsanda, and Telmar. Upon completion, the route will provide a smoother and safer connection from Patna to Rajgir, fostering tourism and bolstering local economic activities.

During a field inspection, Chairman Shirshat Kapil Ashok reviewed the project’s advancement and instructed engineers to draft a proposal for upgrading the road to a 4-lane structure. He assured that the foundation stone for the Salepur-to-Rajgir 4-lane expansion would be laid shortly, emphasising the enhanced regional connectivity it promises. Originally under the Rural Works Department, the road has since been elevated to the status of a Major District Road, underscoring its critical role in the state’s transport network.

A flyover on NH-30A near Narsanda is also under construction and is slated for completion by December 2024. Ashok highlighted the transformative potential of these developments in ensuring smoother traffic flow and driving the comprehensive growth of Nalanda district.

In addition to these roadworks, Ashok inspected another major infrastructure undertaking: a 1660-meter-long flyover in Bihar Sharif under the Smart City Project. With a 1435-meter main span and approach roads, this bridge, being built at a cost of ₹71.62 crore, will facilitate uninterrupted traffic flow from Bhavrapar Chowk, Laheri Thana Chowk, and Gagan Diwan areas towards Patna and Ranchi. The flyover is expected to significantly reduce congestion and improve transportation efficiency.

Ashok stressed that these infrastructure projects are integral not only to enhancing urban connectivity but also to stimulating growth across tourism, cultural heritage, education, and healthcare sectors. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving the quality of life for local residents and driving Nalanda’s development forward.
