Patna: City is getting ready for the monsoon by making sure rainwater can be drained quickly and smoothly. Work is being done quickly to fix and improve the pump houses, also known as DPS (Drainage Pumping Stations), across the city. Along with 56 permanent DPS units, 35 temporary ones have also been set up in places where waterlogging happens often. These stretch from Patna to Danapur.
In total, the city will use 364 pumps this rainy season. Out of these, 265 run on electricity and 99 are powered by diesel. The permanent DPS units hold 256 pumps, while 83 are placed at temporary stations. All the pumps have been checked and are ready to use. Extra materials and supplies have also been stored near the DPS so that nothing is missing when the rains come.
Different areas of Patna have been given more pump power. For example, Azimabad now has 7 DPS with 33 pumps, Kankarbagh has 46 pumps, and Nutan Rajdhani has the highest number with 26 DPS and 105 pumps. This setup will help cover the whole city and make sure that rainwater doesn’t stay collected on the roads.
Officials say that these steps will make a big difference this year. By acting early and setting up both permanent and temporary pumps, the city hopes to prevent the flooding and waterlogging problems that usually trouble residents during monsoon.
