Samastipur: Under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s leadership, the construction of rural roads in Bihar is progressing rapidly. The Chief Minister Rural Road Upgradation Scheme (MMGSUY) has so far completed over 2,070 km of roads out of the approved 2,941 km. The government has spent more than Rs 1,538 crore to build these roads and connect villages with main roads and markets.
Samastipur district is leading in this construction work, with 134 km of roads built so far at a cost of Rs 101.95 crore. Madhubani is in second place, where 124 km of roads have been built by spending Rs 107.09 crore. Darbhanga has completed nearly 114 km of rural roads. Other districts with significant progress include Gaya, West Champaran, Bhagalpur, Sitamarhi, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, East Champaran, Saran, and Katihar.
Officials say that the Chief Minister is personally monitoring the scheme to ensure timely work. He has always said that Bihar’s development is incomplete without the development of its villages. The construction of these roads will improve transportation in rural areas and make it easier for people to access health services, schools, and markets for their crops.
The government plans to build roads in every corner of the state so that no village remains disconnected. This project is also expected to strengthen the rural economy and bring overall development to the villages of Bihar.
