Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday visited Bihta to check the construction work of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) headquarters. He inspected the first and third floors of the administrative building and saw the facilities being built there. Officials gave him detailed information about the progress of the entire complex.
Secretary of the Building Construction Department, Kumar Ravi, informed the Chief Minister that the SDRF headquarters will have all necessary facilities like an administrative building, auditorium, training centre, national-level swimming pool for flood rescue training, officers’ and doctors’ quarters, soldiers’ barracks, sports facilities, and storage buildings. Most of the construction work has already been completed.
Nitish Kumar told the officers to finish the remaining work quickly and ensure smooth access roads to the complex. He also directed them to install solar panels on all new buildings. He said that the state government has decided to put solar panels on all government buildings, and work is already going on in this direction.
Later, the Chief Minister inspected the Bihta-Danapur elevated road construction. Officials told him that this four-lane road will be 25 km long and connect Danapur railway station to Koilwar bridge. The project started in March 2024 and is expected to be completed by September 2026 at a cost of Rs 1969 crore. So far, 30% of the work has been done. Once completed, it will improve connectivity to Bihta airport and Patna city, saving time and fuel for travellers.
